So I am back from an trip to Australia that included 4 of the 6 states, plus the Northwest territory, 13 hotel rooms, 10 plane flights, 4 ferry trips, 2 boats, a bus, a train and 3 rental cars, for a total of 24 days including getting there and getting back. Definitely pretty epic. We started in Sydney on Oct 2nd and ended in Sydney on Oct 23rd, flying out the next day. It looked something like this:
So it was a fun trip photographically, with opportunities for scenic, wildlife, and even nightscape shooting. I am still working on my one nightscape image, taken under basically the new moon at Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, but the others are all processed. Since I don't get out to image as often as I like I will probably trickle these out for effect over the next days/weeks until I have shared the best ones.
Before the trip the 2 locations I was looking forward to the most were the Great Ocean Road, and Uluru. After the trip I would say those 2 are still the 2 best places we visited, although the visits to The Daintree and the Great Barrier Reef were pretty amazing too.
Here is my first share, the iconic 12 Apostles as the sun is setting. I took quite a few images of this area, and even dragged myself up before dawn one morning, but the weather was totally overcast that morning unfortunately. So this one is probably my favorite version of this subject I got, although I might post a couple others later as well. The day this was taken we had wonderful weather, with a mix of clouds and sun and a really active ocean with huge waves coming in during the day. By sunset things had calmed down a bit.
As always, comments and critiques welcome.
