Bad Water New Sky

You had some nice polygons for this foreground.

The light in this scenario has me scratching my head a bit. This is one of those cases where sky replacement can get tricky and if you know this scene the pieces don't really match known conditions. An interesting effort nonetheless.

hat’s a pretty cool sky.

To Alan’s point, I wonder if the very back part of the Salt bed should be lit up a little?

This reminded me of an old friend of mine who one day years ago handed me a CD, and I asked what it was? He said it was full of all of the skies he would use to replace the skies in his photos with. I gave it a shot and replaced the sky in one of my Stonehenge photos. I wasn’t that experienced back then with layer masks so I thought it would be a fun project to learn how to use layer marks better. I think the replacement looked pretty good. But after I felt so guilty I have never done it since. I realize that’s just me, and I will certainly bend my share of pixels that’s for sure!

Thanks for the feedback guys. To your point Jim, that's why I post these experiments in this forum, digital art, not landscapes. I do sometimes wonder at all the HDR layering photographers do, or long exposures and mixing of sky and ground to make stunning star pictures that certainly don't represent what we saw with our naked eye. I'm up for all of it, as long as I'm honest about my work. Don't start thinking though that every nice sunset I post in Landscape is a replacement sky!

There may be some haloing around the upper RHS where the darkest area is against the sky. I imagine that could be tricky with this type of work.
