Badland textures are Good

That scene does look like a photographic candy store. Kinda makes the Painted Hills seem drab. And of course you got colors in the clouds as well - nice combination.

Hey Alan, thanks! Yeah, the ground in that area was so incredibly colorful, and the textures with the natural tile effect.

From the Badlands in South Dakota. There is just crazy cool textures and features everywhere you look. It's like being in a Candy Store! This was as the sun was setting, and I carefully got up on this little rise.

All comments are welcome,

A lot going on here. Seems like 4 layers with the sky. Liking the soft-pallet of color too

Nice image, Jim. Nearly looks southwest. Didn't know SD had elevation of any kind. Good for them!

Hi Jim,

That's some really nice quality and variety of color and texture. I'm a little bit lost on the perspective though. The alluvial fan looks far away and large, but the lack of trees makes it difficult to tell :) I think I'll just be happy with the candy you're selling rather than wondering how much of it I have.

Thanks Jeffrey! Yeah, there isn't much elevation at all, it is mostly flat, but this area seems to have a little bit of it.\

This is terrific. While I get the comment about the foreground dominating the composition a bit, the textures and colors are interesting enough that it is a very different and effective composition. Well seen.
