The colors are not at all what I expected for this area. I have underestimated this as a possible destination. Very interesting skies as well with a nice leading line of the wash up through the scene.

Beautiful rugged terrain, and as Alan said, with surprising color.
I might be tempted to crop about 1/3 of the sky, just to move the horizon off dead center, but this works nicely anyway!

Yeah, I know the horizon is kind of close to the center. I would crop a bit off the sky, but that sky was speaking to me, and wouldn't let me crop it.

Yeah, the whole Badlands area is awesome, but there is this one small area that is just jam packed with color and cool shapes. It's definitely worth the visit. I had put it off too long myself, but I hope to get back again next year.

Very interesting looking area, Jim. Never been but I'd like to. I, too, like the curved lead in, as well as the texture of the mountain strati in the background running a right angles to the direction of the shot.
