Bald Eagle

Sometime ago I seem to remember Eric saying he did not like pure white backgrounds with birds in flight. I totally agree and had an experience the other day that shows this off.
I was looking for Trumpeter Swans and noticed two Bald Eagles in a tree some distance away. As I was looking at the swans, motion in my peripheral vision made me tun my head, revealing two eagles moving towards me. It was a misty morning with tree covered mountains in the background and I was hoping the eagles would fly past that area. To my delight that happened and I was able to capture a couple of different backgrounds. For my money the smaller eagle in a great background is a more compelling image.
C and C welcome.

I have to that the white background isn't nearly as effective as the darker backdrop in the first image. I find myself focusing more on the bird and its facial expression in the first image. Great captures in both images BTW.

Thanks so much for looking and commenting Alan.

@Eric Gofreed will probably enjoy this comparison. And you are right Trent, it really shows a totally different side of the bird. I hadn't thought of it much, but it's true. Thanks for demonstrating that.

And I really like #1.

While I don’t particularly like white backgrounds, there are moments when white can’t be avoided—and shouldn’t be. An eagle in the clouds. Eagles in a snowstorm. A Snow Bunting disappearing into the snow itself.
So yes—I’m not a fan of white in general, but I have plenty of exceptions.
