Bear Tooth Wildflowers

This summer I had the pleasure of visiting friends that built their retirement home in Cody Wyoming. One of the days we did an outing taking us over Bear Tooth Summit and found this lovely display of wildflowers right near the 10,497 elevation. I only had my back up camera with me and no filters. I know, I know, what am I like, right? Anyway, I laid down in the grass with the ticks and such and shot a couple of hand held images. The light was very harsh and a haze to deal with as well, but at least I captured the moment! I have been in a terrible slump for a while with my photography, partly due to a lot of knee pain and find it difficult to hike and walk on uneven ground. Sorry, I have missed so much of your beautiful work everyone, even though the knee pain, it shouldn't stop me from visiting in here. Thank you Jim, for emailing me and checking up on me, you are a star my friend! -Gaz

Hey Gaz, I am glad to be there for you! :)

This now is really sweet scene! I think you tamed the harsh light really well, and what a beautiful place for wildflowers. I need to remember this location for next year, I might have to add it into my wildflower rotation. What a great display of wildflowers and the backdrop is so awesome with those mountains still having snow on them.

You did really well here, please post some more from this location in the coming days.

Beautiful scene - the wildflowers are delightful with a wild mix of colors and the backdrop is impressive. I am with Jim - please share some more shots from here if you have some.

Its hard to concentrate on photography with constant intense pain. I wish I could say I had no experience with that but it seems to be a reality that comes along with not being young anymore.

Welcome back to Focal World, Gaz. This a pretty amazing image when you realize that it was hand held while laying on the ground. Few could do better with a tripod.

Thank you much Douglas, while I was there I was kicking myself for not having my D800 and the tripod for sure!
