Beauty after a Forest Fire

These images were taken in spring after a wildfire ripped through this forest the previous summer. Not sure why the mountain arnica were so prolific after the fire other than perhaps the fire released significant amounts of nitrogen into the soil. Mountain arnica are not dependent on fire for germination. Subsequent spring seasons in the same are have not seen this prolific display.

Amazing what can happen when extra sunlight can reach the forest floor. Quite the display of blooms. Interesting that this type of prolific blossom display did not continue in subsequent years.

How interesting that there was such a bloom! It's great that you were there to capture it, especially since it hasn't been the same since.

I like both images!
