This was before the sun poked it's head through the very small hole on the horizon at Dallas Divide in the San Juan Mountains of SW Colorado. It was dark, very dark out still and the clouds were moving up in the sky pretty fast so I decided to put the 10 stop ND on to make it even darker so I could get a long exposure. In this case it was an almost 6 minute exposure.
One thing the longer exposure did was it really helped pull out the reds more. A lot of the scrub oak was more of a reddish brown, but the long exposure really soaked up the color and made for a pleasing ground layer. This is a single exposure, for as fast as the clouds were moving, surprisingly it wasn't windy on the ground at this point.
