Best of 2023

2023 was a good year for things I love to photograph. It started out with super blooms of flowers (one of my favorite subjects to photograph) in Arizona and California.

My wife and I planned a trip to the Canadian Rockies to catch the fall colors in October.

Finally, I decided to start photographing my mineral collection. Here are Stilbite crystals atop Apophyllite crystals.

Wow Doug! What a fantastic year for you!

I always try to pick favorites of everyones Best photos, but you are making it really difficult for me. I feel like I need to choose all 10. :)

So... I need to get back to this later, I need to let your photos marinate a bit.

Thanks, Jim. Your kind words are truly appreciated.

Douglas,

You always set the bar for flower photographs and I'd say this year was no exception, what a great group of images. I like 1, 6, 7 and 10, with the atmospherics in #7 giving it a real ethereal quality that I love and then the completely different but fascinating subject of #10 really making for a mesmerizing macro capture, artfully done.

Amazing photos, Douglas. Some familiar locations there. The wife and I were down at Organ Pipe and Anza Borrego this last winter, but definately didn't catch the blooms like this. Thanks for sharing.
