Blood Moon over Long Beach

I like this. I was looking for some context this morning for shooting this but had no form of backlighting to make it work.

Thanks so much Alan. It's not as natural of a background as I would have wished, but it worked.

Is this a blend? I'd love to hear how you got the moon in there without a big white halo around it (experience from previous eclipses...)

Hey Kyle, just the slightest bit of blending all from one raw just to pull the highlight's down a bit in the lights and the very left side of the moon. And I just used the Ctrl + Alt + 2 short cut in Photoshop I have the Tutorial on in the Article section. I think I will chalk up how the moon was handled simply from the new D850. It is really looking like a champ with night shots.

That makes sense. It looked like it could be a single raw but I wasn't sure about the dynamic range.
I guess I didn't think about it too much, but even that tighter shot I have of the blood moon that I posted was just 1 raw image and there was no issues at all with halo's either around it either. I am really liking the DR of the D850 sensor so far.

This is a great shot and I am impressed with the lack of moon halos.
