Bolsa Chica Pigeons

Who knew that pigeons could look so cool? At least they looked cool to me flying around at Bolsa Chica Wetlands. It was hard because they tended to fly as a flock so it was hard to get compositions with them that I thought looked well, on top of their moving around all over the place pretty fast.

Anyway, here are 3 that I thought were cool.

Hey Jim, this is really good. I know you are fairly new to BIF (birds in flight) and these smaller faster birds are not easy to capture, but they are great.

They do look nice in this light.

If you want to shoot pigeons come to Vancouver and hang out near the rail yards in the fall. We get mile long trains coming in from eastern Washington and Oregon carrying grains for export and they leave a trail of grain on the tracks behind then. The power lines are almost drooping with all the pigeons lined up for the banquets. They probably number in the thousands. Whatever you do don't park under the power lines in that area

Nice job catching these in flight, Jim. That is by far the hardest way to photograph birds. These are rock pigeons.
