BW or Color Frosty

The other morning I went out for the weather. Here in Colorado he had some freezing fog on the Front Range. So I got up and took my camera with me. I posted some of these on Facebook and another photographer who has processed some BW photos himself and has done well in BW competitions sent me a message and said he preferred the color over the BW. What are your thoughts??

Normally I almost always say color but in this case I find the added contrast in the B&W compelling enough to favor that version of the image.

I'm blown away by the ice spicules. I think the colour version shows the detail better and is my preference.

Great captures Alisa!

For the first one, I say Color all the way. The tan to blue background color works really well. For #2, I lean towards color again. I think the color adds just that added amount of visual interest.
