By the Light of a Smoky Moon

After lots of day visits to Mt. Rainier I decided to spend a couple of nights at the Paradise Inn with the intent to getting sunset/night/sunrise shots a number of years ago. This was in the fall the last week the lodge was open which unfortunately is also the tail end of forest fire season. Nothing was burning near Rainier but smoke from some fires in Oregon drifted up the day I got there and almost obliterated the views at times. I didn't get a lot of keepers out of the first part of the trip while the smoke was present.

I did get out to try my hand at some moonlight shots but the smoke added a layer of haze to everything so the light wasn't quite normal. My camera's sensors added an orange hue that wasn't all that noticeable while I was shooting. I have been tweaking some of the captures to see what could be done and this is a view of the Nisqually Valley looking to the southwest away from Mt. Rainier. I did adjust the color balance to bring this a little closer to what I saw while I was shooting.

C&C always welcome.

It's fun to play around at night shooting. A large portion of my night shots never see the light of day (pun intended) the joy from shooting them is reward enough.

This one is pretty cool, it looks like you solved the WB issues nicely, and I like the hint of stars in the sky.
