Cathedral Gorge - Looking Ahead

From Cathedral Gorge State Park in Nevada. I got this about 2 weeks ago. What a fun place to go, I can't believe it took my 20 years to get there.

This is from outside the slots. The slots are coming, but I am trying to work up everyone's appetites for them. :)

And look for a travel video on this probably on Monday.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

That's a pretty cool looking place and I can't say I have seen many images from there. I just looked it up so I could see where this is and I can see why since it's not really on the way to anywhere in particular unless you are trying to get to Tonopah from Cedar City. I am ready to see more :)

There is a decent campground there with showers, but forget running into town for supplies, there's nothing around. I have stayed there a few times and loved it. Good astro location too! Nice detail you captured in the "cathedrals". Did you also shoot at night?

Looks like a fascinating place. The harsh light here is not helping. Would love to see some in softer light of day.

Thanks Alan, I recall one of the guys on FM who lived in St George had posted some images about 20 years ago. So this has been on my radar since then. And I agree it's not a location you see much of.

I might post some of the slot canyon images tomorrow before going back to some more looking up images.

Hey Michael, Thanks!

I didn't stay there as I initially planned on only being there about 2 hours to scout. I was coming down from Salt Lake City after dropping off my Z6II at Spencers camera to get it Astro modded with a Visible Light and Ha mod. I definitely thought about staying, but I had plans in SoCal already for the next day, and figured I would wait to go back for Astro after the Core of the MW starts to rise more. I did scout also with Astro in mind while I was exploring.

Thanks Jeffrey, it's a really cool though pretty small area. I will try to get back there again for sure now that I finally broke the ice.

Looks like a fun place to explore and capture. The colors and shapes are fascinating.
Thanks Jameel. It was a fun place and one I will be back to again. I wish it wasn't so far off from the I-15, as I could stop there more often, but then again that probably helps to keep down traffic there in general.

wow, Jim, this place is worth exploring ! I have added it onto my must-see list.

Do you need a high rise 4 x4 to get around ?

Thanks

Oliver

Thanks Oliver, it is a fun place to go an explore. It would be worthy of a night of a photo workshop. You could add Valley of Fire and this one for a shorter workshop.

No 4x4 needed. You could drive to it in a Corolla. Only thing you need to bring is clothes you don't care if they get dirty.

Thanks, Jim. I have seen the promo video of that park & suspected it's a beauty, your photos do the justice.
