How far into the world of macro photography are going with these? What is the lens setup?

The effects in these is fascinating in that there are so many different patterns that emerge from this material and as you show here with the light source/angle as well.

#3 for me. The cool thing with this is the sheer amount of possibilities. Btw, DVDs provide a very different effect compared to the CDs. Didn't try the BR disks - I am sure they would provide a very different effect as well.

these are all very cool will make great texture background etc - how long do you nuke them

Thanks for the comments everyone. Marcy, Jamell did his for 5 sec., I've tried just 2, which wasn't enough, and gone up to 10, which just seemed to melt the cracks more. I suppose it depends on the brand of CD/DVD you are working with.
