John Hancock Building standing tall. This building was designed by C. M Pei. It had a systemic flaw. In high winds a torsional effect was set up and many upper windows began to pop out.
Pei's reputation suffered greatly and the remedial cost was many $millions. The top level had to be set up with a wind counterbalance system. Image was recorded with a 4 x 5 in. view camera from in front of M.I.T.

Nice image - the view camera with movements most likely since there is no geometric distortion in the image. Interesting stuff about the flaw.

I like the sailboats anchoring the scene down in front.

Must be a real treat having a swaying office up at the top. You could have sea legs when you leave the building after work.

Thanks for the cool image and story, Tom.

He certainly has done some amazing work in his long, worldwide career, including smaller, but beautiful structures, i.e. the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame, and the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, the Everson Museum near me in Syracuse, NY. (Of course, he wouldn't want the John Hancock Bldg known has his last erection.)
