Cloudscape Panorama Part II

This is another image from last night's sunset using a 166mm telephoto lens to shoot a 3 frame panorama of a nice color show on a thunderhead looming over the foothills of the Cascades south of Portland. Taken a bit later than the one I posted last night. Not really a landscape image with no land in the frame but we don't have a skyscape forum and this isn't far out enough to be an astro shot 😁

This I think might be your best drone image yet. Of course that's subjective, but this is a stunning image! I don't often say it, but you should print this one.

Thanks Jim - we don't often see clouds/colors like this often on the west side of the Cascades so I went nuts when the colors got going. The sunset behind me (today's sunset post) had already died off so the thunderhead got undivided attention until my battery got too low. Even then I brought the drone down, popped in a new battery, and went right back up although by then most of the colors were fading away.

Alan, I have seen many of these colors in the sky, it's the double layer: low, marine layer with high clouds above 20000 ft, and only the drone can capture it. love it.

Thanks Oliver - I knew it was a very different view of the atmospherics than I was used to seeing on the ground so I just kept turning and shooting. Needless to say I have more :)

Awestruck by the continued flow of fantastic sky images - that must have been an epic show because it certainly has produced some mesmerizing images...

Thanks - I don't often see thunderheads up in this area so it was fun when this one showed up right around sunset and I was ready to shoot.

very cool! beautiful pinks and blues in the sky.
Thanks - thunderheads can really put on a nice show when you have an unobstructed view.
