Cobweb spider and egg sac.

Once again my compost lid was a source of enjoyment this week. I lifted the lid and saw a female spider tending to her egg sac. She was rolling it in silk thread and then walking away and coming back. After I processed the video I could see that she was leaving a trail of silk each time she walked away. I presume it was to secure the egg sac in place. In the video you can see how she uses one leg to hold the silk as she moves across the uneven surface and then dips her spinneret to drop some type of adhesive so she can move back in the opposite direction. It puts a Pilates instructor to shame!
