Cocoon Nebula

The Cocoon Nebula is a reflection emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. The nebula is about 4,000 light years from Earth. The central star that lights it formed about 100,000 years ago. The nebula is about 15 light years across.

1200 images @ 15s each for 5 hours total integration
Stacked and processed in Pixinsight and Lightroom

Thanks Jim. This was just last night. I need to do multi-nights and see how far I can take the Origin.

I don't see any field rotation. Was there some and you cropped it out? Or did Pixinsight blend it away? 5 straight hours on one subject is really something with these new Smart Telescopes. I could never get 5 straight hours on the Seestar and have it any good.

I did crop this image since the target is fairly small in the Celestron Origin FOV. The combo of Pixinsight and cropping took care of field rotation.

Very nice! This is such a lovely object. I just finished a very deep 26 hour integration on the area around this nebula - I will post it later today. Your image here does the nebula great justice though - excellent detail and colors!
