As part of my best of 2025 I posted an image of Colle Santa Lucia and thought that you might like to see the usual view plus more of the context of the first one. Ken
I was several miles away at 7,500ft on a hill above the pass with a lot of the Dolomites spread before me
Colle Santa Lucia is a quarter of the way in on the left.
It is usually shot from here but not at sunset
I had planned to photograph it at dawn but I managed to make a mess of my phone alarm and don’t naturally waken at 04:00. On my journey back to Milan I made a slight detour to photograph it but the light was a little harsh but I did get a few clouds. My slight disappointment on this trip was the weather with mostly hazy blue skies and an a couple of occasions thick low cloud. What made it worse a week after my return the first snow of the year fell on the peaks.
