Comet 12P Pons-Brook

I captured this the night before the eclipse, I was showing one of the Live Stack mode built into the ASIAir Astro controller.

This about 20 minutes of 30 second exposures. The stacking in the ASIAir is nice but I will only do it for short periods as it doesn't have any rejection routines built into it. So any stray satellites, planes etc get stacked too.

Which is the case here, but I thought it was interesting to show just how much air and space traffic we have going on in the sky at times.

in which direction are you looking - and time - I am getting conflicting reports - even someone said it exploded on Wednesday

This is an enlightening view for those of us not studying the night skies. Very interesting to see more of what is really going on above us. Nice pic of the comet BTW.

I just imaged it again last night so I am guessing it didn't implode on Wednesday. ;)

Right now it's getting closer and closer to sun. It's pretty much due West when it gets dark enough to see, but it's very close to the horizon. It's at almost NW when it does go below the horizon.

It's getting much brighter as it gets closer to the sun, some have said it's bright enough to see by eye, but I can't make it out with just my eye. This was captured with a 500mm scope on a crop sensor Astro camera. So you should be able to see it with your wildlife lens.

Thanks Alan! The skies above us are getting so crazy. What's nice for us astrophotographers is that Pixinsight will remove them for us when it stacks our images.
