Contrasts of Fall

It's not fall yet but it almost feels like it today with a storm overhead that would be more in line with October than August up here in the Pacific NW today. I decided to yank out a shot from last fall in honor of the rain. This is usually the season where I start to get freaked out about how much dry wildfire fuel is in the forests west of the Cascades so serious rain is a welcome event. This may also help out fall colors a bit this year by keeping everything from completely drying out.

A shot from underneath our Japanese Maple. The fern in the center is a Hart's Tongue Fern with a Western Sword Fern off to the left. The green plant on the right with the berries is Sarcococca also known as Sweet Box.

C&C always welcome.

Very cool Alan. It is getting closer to thinking about Fall now. It's only 4 to 6 weeks away in most places. I am focusing on where I am capturing the Milky Way in 2 weeks with the next new moon, and then I will think about fall in earnest.

Thanks Jim - seems hard to focus on fall after 3 days earlier this week at or near 100ºF but we won't even hit 70º today with the thick cloud cover.
