Are you head up from the area around Bluff or up near Blanding? Thanks Alan. The leaves go white in IR and look great if you can place dark canyon walls behind them.
Every time I have tried to take the dirt road that goes beneath the western edge with shear cliffs, I have been turned back by sticky wet clay!
Correct - Comb Wash Road on the west side of the Comb formation goes all the way from where it drains into the San Juan River up past Arch Canyon north of UT 95. UT95 goes from Blanding out to Hite Crossing and on to Hanksville if you keep driving. I stayed away from Comb Wash road in my RV although I did try a lower part of Butler Wash near Bluff once and had to drive in reverse for about 1/4 mile to find a turn around point after encountering a wash with a 2' drop-off. Happily I decided to scout that drop-off before driving over it which would have high centered me rather thoroughly.Comb Wash Road, up from Bluff, not Butler Wash, which is east of Comb Ridge.
