Another from the Sossusvlei area in Namibia. The Deadvlei (Dead Marsh) was the terminus of an endorheic river which was cut off about 800 years ago leaving the acacias to wither. The dry arid climate preserved the trunks. The iron rich red dunes are the result of hundreds of years of iron oxidation.
