My first impressions was of a pair of arches, then ai realized it was sand dunes. Excellent choice of B&W

I didn't see that at first. But then after reading your post, I looked again, sure enough I see 2 arches too! :)

Nice image. Did you envision processing it to look like this when you originally took the shot?

I have things I have converted to B&W after the fact but have never really attuned my brain into being able to conceive what the color scene in front of me will look like in B&W so I just expose for the light and think about the conversion later.

I knew I wanted to contrast the light dunes against the darker mountains. I always look for the color filter in post that separates tones the way I want.

A little retina burn on the left "Arch" on my screen, otherwise your image has many areas of interest, the mountains in the distance are a stand-out !

Nice layering effect and sweet clean dunes - hard to find when I was there due to an unusual lack of wind. My only niggle is the lower left area of roughness, not sure if it is human intrusion, or plants disrupting the sand flow, but for me it draws my eye away from the nice central dunes. Perhaps a crop with a bit of content awareness fill could eliminate it.
