Delicate Arch 1978 (redo)

Here is an image Kathleen took on a trip we took to Arches National Park back in 1978. Image taken with a Leicaflex SL and 50mm lens. The film was Kodacolor. The negative was scanned and processed in Photoshop for presentation on this forum. There were only a few people at the site the day we were there, and non crawling like ants all over the area near the arch, ahh the good old days! ;)

Has the left side of the arch become thinner since 1978? During my only visit to Delicate Arch in 2023, there were certainly many people on the trail, but I was able to get plenty of images without people in them. I’d much rather visit it with no one around though.

Nice capture of this arch before there were so many visitors. I like the scene with the snow capped mountains behind but it feels just a bit too warm in the color tone and a tad soft in contrast.

I am basing those calls on the colors and contrasts of the backdrop more than the arch in the foreground. This is a shot worth tweaking - it's a keeper.

Hi Alan, I posted a redo of the Double Arch image; what do you think? ;)

Looking good Larry! It's amazing how much easier it was back then to get images without people in them. Even just 10 years ago, there would be a line of people waiting to stand under the arch to get their photo taken, but the group would pause every 10 minutes or so to let all of us photographers were on the opposite side of the bowl in a line waiting to take a photo of it with no people. Courtesy has also been pretty well lost these days.

Thanks Jameel for your comments, appreciated! ;)
I did not appreciate the lack of people crawling all over the space around the arch and posing under the arch. In subsequent visits it was a zoo up there! :(
