Interesting processing results. I think I prefer the first one with the lightning - mostly because there is less of a halo effect around the buildings. That is a bit distracting in the second image.

What’s great about playing around and creating digital art like this, is the skills you are learning now can be applied to future processing when you aren’t creating digital art but simply working to bring the most out of an image.
The lightning is really cool, with #2, why don’t you go back and remove those halos around the buildings. What makes #1 better isn’t the lightning, it’s the seamless blend and lack of halos around the buildings. Correct #2, and then we can have a fair contest.

Agreed, if that lower left bolt could be slightly different than the one above, it would be better. That said, the angle of this bolt is key to the composition because it's finishing the circular pattern of lightning around that building top.
