Early Summer view at Red Rock Lake

This image was taken in late June and shows significant snow still on the Indian Peaks in the background and snow still on the banks of the lake.

Nice view of the lake and the high alpine peaks. Looks like a fairly windy day given the chop on the waters in the lake. Trail hikes could be sketchy with the size of the drifts on the far shore.

I have been there, and remember thinking why did it get this name as there isn't really any red rock around there that I saw.

Thanks Alan for the comments, appreciated. I took my younger daughters with me to that area on Father's Day years ago and found the trail head marker was covered with 6 ft of snow. My girls ran around in shorts and played on the snow drifts, but the trail to the Long Lake was closed. It was a good Father's Day for this dad!
