Early Summer view at Red Rock Lake

Nice view of the lake and the high alpine peaks. Looks like a fairly windy day given the chop on the waters in the lake. Trail hikes could be sketchy with the size of the drifts on the far shore.

That's a cool lake, and I like the snow still on the mountains. Good job with this.

I have been there, and remember thinking why did it get this name as there isn't really any red rock around there that I saw.

Thanks Alan for the comments, appreciated. I took my younger daughters with me to that area on Father's Day years ago and found the trail head marker was covered with 6 ft of snow. My girls ran around in shorts and played on the snow drifts, but the trail to the Long Lake was closed. It was a good Father's Day for this dad! ;)

Here is an image of the lake in the fall showing why it is called red rock lake! :)
