El Centinela

El Centinela (The Sentinel) is a 2,562-foot-tall mountain in Baja California, Mexico approximately 12 miles west of Mexicali, Mexico and Calexico, California. It towers over the southern end of the Imperial Valley of California, where the elevation dips below sea level. While on a recent motorcycle trip through the area on California State Route 98, I was trying my best to tolerate 100+ degree temperatures while on the horse. But I had to stop to get a few photos of El Centinela.

What struck me most was that the border wall between the United States and Mexico is clearly visible at the base of the mountain even from several miles away. This was my first time seeing it with my own eyes.

Thanks, Jim. Had I been by myself on this trip, I would have stopped more to take photos. Can't do that as much when in a group.

True. The wall had an ominous feel to it, slightly impressive.

Very nice B&W Michael—as said above it does have an IR quality as well.
