Elephant in the Room

Today I returned home from a 3,000+ mile road trip through four states, 2,400 miles of which were done on a Harley Davidson motorcycle. One of the first stops was Valley of Fire State Park where I photographed Elephant Rock for the first time. It was very windy that day which created some dusty conditions along with excellent clouds.

It was QUITE a pleasure to ride through this park on two wheels.

Familiar old rock - always worth a stop and you had some nice light to highlight the lithic pachyderm.

Valley of Fire would be a really fun place to ride a motorcycle. Especially if you are coming in from the I-15 as you get to the park there are all those rolling and winding hills that the road travels along. It's fun in a car, but probably super fun on a motorcycle.

Great job with the Elephant. It's a fun one to image because there are quite a few angles to this guy. And then a lot changes depending on how low to the ground you want to get.

You found an angle that does make it look like an elephant. I've seen some that didn't work as well as this one.
