Embleton Bay

I don't think that I have posted this before, if so then oops! This is Dunstanburgh Castle a 14thC Castle set on the Northumberland coast on England's North East Coast. Taken standing on the large and very slippery foreground rocks. It was a very calm day and a real pleasure to be out in the fresh air even if the hoped for waves failed to materialise. Ken

Well done. I love the rocks with every tone from pure black to white in the highlights. The high clouds are a bit dull and could use a bit of brightening, but that might draw the eye from the rocks, which are the main attraction for me.

Jim exactly as you thought brightening the clouds draws the eye upwards too much but I may experiment to find a happy medium. I have just noticed that the castle needs fixing, it flares outwards at the top due to me pointing the camera downwards to capture the rocks at my feet, mostly cropped out. Ken

I really like the focus on the foreground rocks. B&W suits this nicely. I noticed the outward flare on the castle but not having seen it in person I really couldn't tell if that was perspective distortion or how it was built.

Neat shot, I love those rocks. I wonder if maybe those parapets have a ledge around the top making them wider and causing the illusion Alan sees?

Ben there is a tiny ledge but the actual castle walls are not straight, now fixed. Ken
