Factory Butte Milky Way

Any suggestions for a title, I am open. :)

This was from last September at Factory Butte in Utah. Amy had met with me there for a few days, and one of them we spent the night shooting a storm and then the Milky Way over Factory Butte. This is one of the frames. It's a single image, despite no moon so it was dark, the ground got just enough light to give some detail.

Nikon D850
Sigma 14mm f1.8
25 secs
ISO 3200
f1.8

All comments are welcome,

Jim

Wow Jim that’s a great shot! The amount of light on the ground is perfect for this image.
Hey Josh, thanks so much! One of the reasons I love that Sigma 14mm f1.8 is it just has this way about it that it soaks in so much more light then one might think.

This is great Jim, I am wondering where you were for this shot. Looks like you were south of the Butte facing north, but the Milky Way is usually south.

Thanks so much Ben.

The MW is at SW in Sept. later in the season it’s much more vertical and swings completely overhead. So I had picked a spot where Factory Butte (which is to the west) is in the right side of the frame and the MW is in the left. We got there late, so it was dark already, and as we got close, I pulled over and stopped a few times to check the framing and the angles. This seemed the best. Plus there was a storm to the north as we got there with huge lightning crashes, and I wanted to get some shots with it to the right of Factory Butte. I got some shots of the storm, but it will take some salvage work to recover them as the lightning was really blowing up the clouds. So hopefully I can get a workable image from those frames today.

Turned out very well. As to the Title, when I shot a MW over the Butte, I used the title "Star Factory' esp since the the MW was aligned such that it appears the stars are coming out of the top of the Butte.

Thanks Jameel. Yeah, I remember your title, that was perfect for your photo.
