Factory Butte Milkyway

Hi y'all.

I just got back from another trip around the badlands in the Southern Utah, the area is a gem for night photography, I was lucky to get 3 clear nights in a row ! This is the picture I got at Factory Butte, a million stars.

Comments & critiques are welcome

Oliver

PS: it's a small world, I struck up conversation with somebody who parked his camper van not far from where we were shooting, it turned out he was from Oakland !

Nice composition and rendering of the stars. Somehow for me the ground doesn't quite fit. I'm wondering how it would look if you cooled it down a touch.

I have to agree with Kyle that the ground just doesn't seem to blend in right. Maybe go a bit stronger on the blacks for the ground layer along with a cooler color temp? Great place to shoot this from.

Kyle, great oberservation! I will do some adjustment later.

Thanks Alan, this place is so attractive.

Hey Oliver,

Factory Butte is a fun place to capture the MW. Congrats on 3 clear days, I have had 0 so far.

I need to look at this on my computer instead of my phone to see how the ground layer is looking. Did you capture this with a 24mm?

Oh... and did you invite the camper to FocalWorld? We need more members! :)

Wonderful image Oliver. In addition to the comments from Kyle and Alan, there are some halos along the ground/sky intersection. I'd also darken the sky a bit.
