Flowers at Home

Since going for a walk and taking pictures in my house are two things I'm allowed to do during our time of sheltering in place, I decided to combine the two. I collected a few flowers yesterday and set them up in my kitchen for some macro shots. I shot these with my EOS R, taking advantage of its focus peaking, with a Canon 100mm macro lens and a 25mm extension tube. I put the camera on a rail so I could easily slide it toward my subject to achieve focus. Each of these has a foreground object on which I misted some water in front of a purple flower which serves as the background. I used a flashlight to add some light to the flower.

This is my first attempt at this, I hope to be learning and improving from here...

2) Closer view of dandelion and flower

3) Bud and flower

Any thoughts are welcome.

Fun exercise Kyle - I like the misted dandelion shots. The first one feels just a bit subdued and feels like just a little more light on the foreground of the dandelion would help. The second dandelion shot stand out a little more for me with more details in the droplets.

The last shot is fun but demonstrates the perils of bringing these into your house as I can spot aphids on the underside of the buds that could spread to your house plants.

The first one seems abstract as it's hard to figure out what I am seeing. The second is also hard to ID but does not really require it for some reason. The last is more to my taste and my favorite.

Good for you to find a way to extend photography into the present situation.

Its good that the situation we are in is forcing us to get creative. Flowers are something I have recently experimented with mixed success. Its a whole new area with its own quirks.

The second is my favorite of the set.

Super cool work Kyle! You are putting your time to good use I would say! I like all of these, though maybe #2 is my favorite.
