I took this at the end of a workshop in Yosemite. The rest of the group was coming down the hill and their flashlights provided the side light on this glacial erratic near Olmsted Point.
Kyle, this looks like Olmsted Pt. Nicely seen. I was thinking it should be called "New arrival"I took this at the end of a workshop in Yosemite. The rest of the group was coming down the hill and their flashlights provided the side light on this glacial erratic near Olmsted Point.

Thanks Alan - although I take limited credit. A few more details below...Delightful capture - good eye for the shot.
Thanks Dan - definitely Olmsted Point which is a wonderful place to shoot at night. That's a good name too.Kyle, this looks like Olmsted Pt. Nicely seen. I was thinking it should be called "New arrival"![]()
So here's (to me) the funny thing. As the workshop leader (Michael Frye - I'm a huge fan) was leading us up the hill, he pointed out this rock and mentioned that it makes a great subject. We all proceeded to shoot a bunch of the trees up there and I eventually worked my way back down and set up for this rock (Michael said shoot it, so I'm shooting it). So not only did everyone else miss it, but it had been pointed out to them and they still missed itAnd everybody else just hurried on by & missed it..... Good eye, Kyle!
I was annoyed at first that I didn't get the shot before the lights appeared I quickly realized they were pretty cool.Awesome work Kyle! It’s always cool when we can benefit from other light sources at night.
You really scored on this one.
Thanks a lot Jeffrey.Damn, that worked out well.. Nice work, Kyle!
