Gates of the Sunrise

This is Gates of the Valley, one of my favorite locations in Yosemite. But for this photo, it came to me that this should be renamed to Gates of the Sunrise! :)

Another one from 2024. I skipped over so many photos to process last year, one of the hazards of traveling a lot and helping to take care of my grandkids for long stretches of time. I am trying to catch up now as I want to not skip over anything when I assemble my Best of 2024 video I will put out soon.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

I really like this different composition. Nice light too
Thanks Kyle. This area just to the left of the parking lot is one of my favorite spots there, I am glad it worked well for this. Fall works better with the branches being bare and not blocking the view as much.

A nice subtle "painterly" captures. Makes me realize it's been too long since I've been ther
Thanks Dan, it did come out with a kind of painterly feel. I am hoping to get back there again later in February, but not sure yet.

Gates of the Valley is a beautiful place, the light in the photo is great and the tree in the foreground on the left nicely completes the composition of this beautiful photo.

Thanks so much Peter. I don't typically use objects to frame my images, but I am happy this one worked with that tree.

Nice pastels, Jim. And with the bare tree on the left, the Captain isn't obscured lie it would be in other times of year.
