Good Morning Sunshine

Had a bit of smoke blowing our way from somebody's wildfire east of us just over a week ago. Made a mess out of my view of the local volcanos but also made for a very colorful sunrise over the Cascades. No nice palm trees for a silhouette like Ha's nice sunrise - just smoky foothills.

Nice color in the sky with the sun partially behind the hills.

As long as you are not breathing it …

The hills can also go to complete silhouette as well.

Thanks Jameel - fortunately for us the air quality stayed in the acceptable range and most of this smoke blew away before it ever descended into the metro area down here. There wasn't much detail in the hills between the sun angle and the smoke.

Very nice Alan. I heard there is fire in western Canada.
Thanks Jeffrey - I believe you are correct on the source of the smoke. It was much worse up near the Seattle area but did extend down the eastern side of the Cascades as far as the Gorge and we had east winds.

This looks nice Alan!

As for the Palm Trees, you could have put some in with the Photoshop Ai.... ;)
Thanks Jim - maybe just a giant fir tree for this area. It would need to be a 1000' tall tree or more in order for a real one that could be seen but who cares about reality anymore right?

i'd be tempted to crop the majority of the top off just to show off those layers of trees. but that's also a really pretty sky. gorgeous image!

Thanks - the layers of trees are easy to get: launch from my driveway and go 200' straight up. All of the foothills leading up into the Cascades look like this :)

I pounce when I get some color to play with on mornings like this one. The fun part about alternative lenses on drones means you can get selective effects by focal length. In this case the 24mm view wasn't all that colorful but the small scene the 166mm lens sees is restricted to the heart of all the sunrise color you do see.
