Half Dome by Moonlight

Nice one Kyle, I love landscapes by moonlight and even though purists will speak of star trails. I don't care.

Very cool looking Kyle! The only nit to me in this is I wish there was a hair more space above North Dome. Other then that, this is really sweet. And actually with the minimal sky I like the stars streaking a bit like you have it. It demonstrates that there are stars and time is passing. Typically I prefer static stars over star streaks, but perhaps with this composition you are hitting onto something important in regards to when star trails can work and can really add to an image.

Night shooting is nice for avoiding the crowds. The long exposure does a nice job of smoothing out the reflections in the water and leaving a soft feel to them. I do have to agree with Jim on the space above North Dome although I plead guilty to doing the same thing with some of my predawn subjects at Bryce. Not easy for frame images in the dark.

Very nice. Like what the long exposure does to the water and reflection. With Jim here about needing a bit more breathing space above the dome.

Thanks all. The lack of space comes from my desire to try getting a full reflection. There are always trade offs...

Oh man, I don't want to copy what Bart just said  but when I had written about the space above North Dome, I was thinking that it was that low because of your desire on the reflection.
