Half Moon in Hα

I am the first one to admit that I am not usually overly excited by moon images that include the entire Moon. But I have to say that when shooting the Moon in Hα, I think it helps with the contrast and maybe the seeing a little bit too.

The other night as a test of getting my newly installed OAG focused I was pointing at the moon, and ended up taking this 1 second exposure with my cooled mono astro camera (QHY268M) using a 3nm Hα filter. For a single image I like the results.

This looks great Mike! That Ha filter really cleared the way to a nice detailed moon.

For the record, I love all of the phases of the moon. :)
