Helmet House

This is an image of one of the structures in Hovenweap National Monument in southern Utah. When I was processing this image it hit me that the shape of rock the Ancestral Puebloans built their house inside of reminded me of a motocross helmet and once I saw that resemblance I couldn't unsee it

That's really cool Alan. It does look like a helmet. It's kind of unusual in that it's in an isolated rock outcropping. Usually they seem to be in larger rock structures.

Thanks Jim - Hovenweap has quite a few dwellings that seem to take advantage of the rock shelters but this one was the most unusual.
