Heron on the hunt...

Took a walk down the river to the sea earlier and captured a young heron on the prowl! Used a crop sensor and rf 100-500 so was able to get 800mm for the reach:. The light turned it blue to grey especially in the shade.

Looks like fairly deep water for this bird. I am more used to seeing them wade in more shallow habitats. Lovely details of this young specimen in both of these images.
