Husks

On Thursday morning on my way to work I went exploring at Otter Creek , a wildlife preserve up the road here in southern VT. I didn't see any wildlife besides some chickadees. I found these husks of some plant in the tall grass at the trailside. Anyone know what plant this is?

I shot this from about 4-6 feet away at max zoom on my lens, 105mm / f5.6. I like this setup for shooting flora close-ups like this one because of the nice background bokeh and hence the nice isolation of the subject. C&C welcome.

That is milkweed, Alan. Here is an image of a pod with the seeds still in just after they opened.

That’s a very cool setup Amy, that should work great for isolating subjects. I like what you found.
