I am not sitting there

From Glacier Point in Yosemite. I made it just in time to catch the sunset and a person or two who.... well I can't think of a kind way to say it, but I know I am not going to sit or stand out there. :)

I have a standard 16x24 and then a pano crop, not sure which I prefer most at this time.

Two very different mood to this scene with your crops. The pano crop seems to bring out the idiot^H^H^H^H^Hperson more along with more of a focus on the sunset colors but the first one does a better job of conveying the magnitude of the whole view.

I guess people do that to show off or prove something. I prefer the pano crop. Nice image.

Thanks Alan!

The main reason I wanted a pano crop was for 2 things. Visually that triangle shaped rock along the bottom bothers me some. Maybe it doesn't bother others? But for me I don't care for the attention it can draw, and also that small boulder along the left edge in the middle catches my eye. So the pano crop let me get rid of both. But yeah, it definitely puts that person more center stage I think.

There's always someone that insists on sitting right in everyone's shot. I guess they add scale...

My first thought was the pano, but the more I look I'm leaning the other way. Just a little more expensive. Beautiful evening!

Sooo - until you mentioned the rock in the first image I hadn't really noticed it. Now I can't unsee it o_O

Great view!!
I definitely prefer the un-cropped version, though I might be tempted to crop the sky as you did the pano? The fg rocks give the valley even more depth, to my eyes, at least.

Thanks Barry, that's an interesting idea.

Don't blame you JIm! I agree with what Alan said - also to the extent of not having been bothered by the rock - until you mentioned it......

I feel that the pic needs the bottom bit which is not in the crop, as there is more feeling of depth to the picture, which appears much flatter in pano.

I like the pano more. it brings my attention to the cliffhanger and the epic scale of the landscape.

Thanks Martin. I agree there is benefit to the wider complete image. This may just be one of those images where it can work both ways.

I don't mind the un-cropped, it adds more depth, includes the Merced more, and in general feels more vast, like it feels standing there...I would have no problem sitting out there...but there are a lot of signs telling you not to...so I didn't go out there on my trip...others did not listen...

Jim: great set. Visually, to me the first conveys the power of the scene. It deserves to be "in your face".
