I’m sure this shot is not for everyone..Lots of confusion going on but I like the light. We had a freezing rain which coated the trees and I was wandering the woods for comps in black and white.

It's tough to isolate a small section of the forest to make it look less chaotic. Did you get any close up shots of the freezing rain on the branches? I honestly wouldn't have known there was freezing rain on the picture if you didn't mention it. If you didn't get any closeup shots, I would recommend trying to crop parts of the picture for better subject isolation

That last shot best conveys the frozen world after an ice storm. It's amazing to wander around (to the extent you can get enough traction) the aftermath of freezing rain but very difficult to capture in photos.

Hey Dean,

I do see why your original was appealing to you. I know anytime I see a leaning tree in a forest like that I will go shoot it. There is something cool about that. But I do like your additions a lot more! Both are great, but for me I like the B&W one better. I am liking that Black vs White contrast in it.
