It's a fox & mouse game

Black foxes are a subspecies of the regular red fox: about 1 in 5. This is the 2nd one I've seen on my commute to town. The 1st I was able to follow & photograph for about 5 years. This one I only saw the one time. I thought I had missed any interesting shots of him/her, but I lucked out & got the head just as it turned to dismiss me.

I have to admit, Mike, that after the black foxes, the red ones are, well, "meh". They can still be cute, but they're so.......ordinary

Wow, neat fox - never seen a black one myself! Kinda reminds me of the wolf from Neverending Story that scared the crap outta me as a child.

Nice pic! I'm curious about the top portion though - seems a bit oddly processed there (light is full against the fox, but cattails are not lit).

I probably dropped a GND down, so the house in the background wouldn't be distracting. I assume you're referring to the ones behind the fox, not the ones in front?

Nice shot, Monika. Cought in the act, so to speak. I never knew about black foxes before but this is enchanting. What a great busy, white tipped tail!
