That is so cool Alan. Had you not said it was 5" across I would have guessed this at 2 or 3 feet.
Hehe - I have tripped you up a couple of times now on scale with shots I took in Kaolin Wash so this time I thought I would add that part in this time.

You don't want to be shooting with me when I find something like this along the path - especially if you are in a hurry to get somewhere else :D

I heard a photographer say that the only friends (non-photographer) who would go on a hike with him knew to bring Tolstoy!

I showed my wife this thread including the Tolstoy remark. Her response - "Someone Understands!"..........

When I describe my next photo destination to her anymore the question that follows if "how long will you be gone?".

The textures and colors in nature are awe inspiring. As landscape photogs, we normally focus (pun intended) on the grand vistas. You have shown there is interesting stuff at the micro level as well. Well seen.

When my husband came with me on an Iceland Highlands photo tour, the guide explained to him that there is time, then there is photographers' time. In photographers time, 20' is more like 45'.
