King tides in Bandon

My favorite hotel on the west coast has a 15% discount for the dates of the king tides each winter. I took advantage of that over the weekend - we got a bit of color, a bit of cloudy, and also some steady rain towards the end, but it worked out well. Arrived Friday night to partly cloudy and receding tide at sunset, so quickly ran down to the beach for photos. Next day was on and off rain showers but had it's moments. Sunday it poured down all the way back to Portland! The last photo in this group was taken from the balcony of our room - almost like cheating! I love Bandon!

Great set - one of my favorite sunset beaches along the Oregon coast. Great sunset shot of the Facerock silhouette. I like the last two as well.

Did you stay at the Bandon Motel?

Edit: I just noticed that satellite images show the old Bandon Motel as having been torn down?

Thanks, Alan! We stayed at Sunset Oceanfront Lodging. Rooms in the Vern Brown Addition have great views, top floor is best. Sale dates for next king tides are December 13-15 2024, and January 11-13 2025.

Nice set Michael. You got color and waves - a nice haul for the weekend.
Thanks, Jameel! My odds have been 50-50 at best, for getting any color at all during a short stay. Got. just a hint this trip, but enough to make us happy. Spent a lot of time just watching the waves from our room, but that was fun to watch.

Nice views from there. I used to stay at the Best Western south of there because they would give me a government employee discount but there were no views of the beaches.

Nice set of photos Michael. Personally, I like the last two the best. They have a nice separation of the foreground rocks from the less contrasting rocky background. Nice work!

This is a great series of images. You got some great conditions Michael.

It's really hard to pick favorites of this group.
