Kravica Waterfalls

While Plitvice is a UNESCO world heritage site in Croatia, Kravica is a more commercialized park in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Swimming is allowed at Kravica and there are boat tours under the falls. It is still a beautiful area and it's neat to swim near the falls, but it's harder to get a good photo.

We visited Kravica as a side trip while traveling from Dubrovnik to Hvar Island. That gave us a couple of hours to enjoy the scene, have a beer, take some photos, and go for a swim. I used a variable ND for these to get the water motion that I wanted in full daylight.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Wow! What a beautiful set of waterfalls! These might be my favorites, or at least in the Top 5 of your images from that trip.

You successfully used a VND? What focal length did you use? I still have bad memories of the dreaded "X" while trying a couple many years ago.

The waterfalls at Kravica were impressive - and these were just two of the 4-5 similar falls all along that canyon rim. I couldn't fit more into the frame due to the light and the people in the area.

I shot these (as well as almost all of my photos on this trip) with the Panasonic S1R2 and the Panasonic 28-200 lens. I used a K&F concept combined CPL/VND for these as well as most of my photos from Plitvice. For the most part I dialed in my shutter speed and aperture and then adjusted the VND to get proper exposure based on the lighting.

Here is a video from my phone showing the area.

Wow! That's a lot of people!

Does the VND work at 28mm? I think I had read that they really only work at about 70mm or tighter?

is this the one @Kyle Jones ?

Do you use a lens hood with this? It seems like those arms would prevent that. That could be a possible issue with the sun.
Close, it was this one.

It definitely prevents using a hood. It's a little awkward to use overall, but worked well for me on this trip.

Thanks! I ordered it. I would use it mostly on my 24-200mm Nikon lens, and the lens hood for it actually balloons out a bit. It might fit inside the lens hood. But if not, I think it would be worth it.

I would use it on my Z6III which has a base ISO of 100, so when at the beach, I always have to stack an ND and a CPL together in order to get my shutter speed down to 1/5th of a sec at sunset. So this could be nice to have it all in one unit.
