I also like #1 the best, that's a very striking image.

I do like what you were going for in #2 with that pano format and the flag on the left and the statue on the right. I am guessing the ground layer was too busy or distracting, but having a ground layer would have helped to anchor the flag into the scene as now it appears to just be floating.

I take what a scene gives me sometimes without trying to force something
