Large Bull Elk Napping

We were driving up Trailridge Road in July a few years ago and spotted this large bull elk napping right next to the road. There was a pull out not far from the elk, so we stopped and grabbed a few shot. The elk was not bothered by our presence nor the large group people that stopped to see him, and continued with his nap.

That is a beautiful specimen Larry. Maybe he is tired from growing all that antler.

That's funny Larry, I looked at the image before I read what you had written and I thought this looks like Trail Ridge road. And sure enough it is! There is so much to offer on that road, I wish it was kept up, at least to the visitor center up there in the winter.

In July and August the big elk hang out in the alpine meadows in the upper reaches of Trailridge Road!
